The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs today voted to approve the nomination of Alan Greenspan to a fourth term as chairman of the Federal Reserve. The committee's chairman, Sen. Phil Gramm, made the following statement:
"I was pleased to see a unanimous vote on this nomination from my colleagues on the Banking Committee. This is reflective of the high esteem in which the committee holds Chairman Greenspan. I hope to see quick and similarly decisive action from the full Senate on this important nomination."
