GRAMM, SCHUMER TO ANNOUNCE BIPARTISAN BILL
TO REDUCE SECURITIES FEES, RAISE SEC PAY


Sen. Phil Gramm, chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, and Sen. Charles Schumer, a member of the Banking Committee, will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 25, to discuss the Competitive Market Supervision Act of 2001, a bill that would reduce the fees on securities registration and transactions while assuring adequate funding for the operation of the Securities and Exchange Commission. The bill would also allow the SEC to bring the pay of its employees in line with the pay of other federal financial regulators.
