Sen. Phil Gramm, chairman of the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, has announced that the committee will meet at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, to conduct a mark-up of S.206, the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 2001.
The bill, introduced in the 107th Congress on January 30, would repeal the Public Utility Holding Act of 1935 and transfer oversight of public utility holding companies from the Securities and Exchange Commission to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and appropriate state agencies.
A hearing was held on the Public Utility Holding Company Act on March 29; statements from witnesses and senators can be found under "Hearings" on the Banking Committee's web site at http://banking.senate.gov.
