Sen. Phil Gramm, chairman of the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, has announced that the full committee will meet at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, to hold a hearing on four nominees and to vote on two nominations.

WHO:
A hearing will be held on the following nominations:
Alphonso R. Jackson, of Texas, as Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. The deputy secretary is responsible for HUD programs including housing and community development. The deputy secretary serves as the chief operating officer as well as handling the day-to-day operations.
Richard A. Hauser, of Maryland, as General Counsel of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The general counsel is the principal legal advisor to the secretary and the department.
John Charles Weicher, of the District of Columbia, to be Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and serve as the Federal Housing Commissioner. The Assistant Secretary for Housing and Federal Housing Commissioner advises the Secretary regarding mortgage insurance and multifamily assisted housing programs, related functions of production, financing, and management as well as conservation and rehabilitation of housing stock. The assistant secretary chairs the Mortgage Review Board.
Romolo A. Bernardi, of New York, as Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for Community Planning and Development. The Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development oversees major federal neighborhood revitalization, economic development, housing and homelessness programs. The assistant secretary is responsible for the oversight of Community Development Block Grants, Hope for Ownership of Single Family Homes, Home Investment Partnerships, Housing for People with AIDS, as well as various other programs.
A committee vote will occur on the following nominees from the May 10 nominations hearing:
John E. Robson, of California, as President of the Export-Import Bank.
James J. Jochum, of Virginia, as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration.
