COMMITTEE VOTES TO APPROVE HUD NOMINEES


The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs today approved four nominees for positions in the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The nominations will now be sent to the full Senate for approval.

The committee approved the following nominees:

Alphonso R. Jackson of Texas, with a vote of 20-0, to be Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

Richard A. Hauser of Maryland, with a vote of 20-0, to be General Counsel of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

John Charles Weicher of the District of Columbia, with a vote of 19-1, to be an Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and serve as the Federal Housing Commissioner.

Romolo A. Bernardi of New York, with a vote of 20-0, to be an Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for Community Planning and Development.
