SARBANES ANNOUNCES OVERSIGHT HEARING ON
THE FEDERAL DEPOSIT INSURANCE SYSTEM


Senator Paul S. Sarbanes (D-MD), Chairman of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, announced that the full Committee will hold an oversight hearing to review the federal deposit insurance system and to consider recommendations for reform.

The hearing will be held:

Scheduled to testify are:

  • The Honorable Donald E. Powell, Chairman, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation;

  • The Honorable John D. Hawke, Jr., Comptroller of the Currency; and
  • The Honorable James E. Gilleran, Director, Office of Thrift Supervision.
