BANKING COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVES 4
SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION NOMINEES

Senator Paul S. Sarbanes (D-MD), Chairman of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, announced that the Committee today unanimously approved four pending nominations to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

"We need to have a full complement of Commissioners at the SEC during this critically important time and I am pleased that we have moved these nominations so expeditiously to the full Senate for confirmation," said Sarbanes.

The Committee approved the following nominations:

  • Mr. Paul S. Atkins, of Virginia, to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Mr. Roel C. Campos, of Texas, to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Ms. Cynthia A. Glassman, of Virginia, to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission; and
  • Mr. Harvey Jerome Goldschmid, of New York, to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • The nominations now go to the full Senate for consideration. Sarbanes hopes the Senate can move all four nominations by the August recess, slated to begin on August 2.
