Senator Paul S. Sarbanes (D-MD), Chairman of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, announced that the full Senate tonight unanimously approved the four pending nominations to the Securities and Exchange Commission. It follows the Banking Committees' earlier vote today to send them to the Senate floor for consideration.
"With the approval of these nominees tonight, unanimous Senate passage of the accounting reform and investor protection legislation earlier today, and the Senate Appropriations Committee moving to significantly increase the monies for the Securities and Exchange Commission, we are taking the essential steps needed to restore investor confidence, put a statutory framework into place and provide the necessary resources for the SEC to increase its cops on the street capabilities," said Sarbanes.

With Harvey Pitt as Chairman of the SEC, the Commission will now have its full complement of Commissioners.
