SARBANES ANNOUNCES HEARING ON FINANCIAL PRIVACY
AND CONSUMER PROTECTION
Senator Paul S. Sarbanes (D-MD), Chairman of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, announced that the full Committee will meet to conduct a hearing on financial privacy and consumer protection.
The hearing will examine the public's concern about financial privacy, the adequacy of current Federal laws designed to protect the personal nonpublic information held by financial institutions, and whether improvements in Federal law are necessary or appropriate for the protection of consumers
The hearing will be held:
