STATEMENT OF SENATOR PAUL S. SARBANES (D-MD)
CHAIRMAN, BANKING, HOUSING,
AND URBAN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

ON THE RESIGNATION OF MEMBERS OF THE BUSH
ADMINISTRATION'S ECONOMIC TEAM

"With today's resignations of Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill and Senior Economic Advisor Lawrence Lindsey, coupled with the recent resignation of Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Harvey Pitt, it is critically important for the Administration to move quickly to appoint credible new economic leaders who understand Main Street America and the investing public; who are committed to creating new jobs all across America; and who will focus on restoring confidence in the financial markets and addressing corporate malfeasance."
