Subcommittee on International Trade and Finance
to Hold Hearing on Export Administration Act

Sen. Mike Enzi, chairman of the Subcommittee on International Trade and Finance, has scheduled a hearing for 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, to consider the reauthorization of the Export Administration Act.

"There have been significant changes in the world since the Export Administration Act of 1979 was updated in 1988," Enzi said. "The post-Cold War era presents us with different national security challenges which are not reflected in our current export control policies.

"I look forward to exploring ways to promote exports for U.S. businesses and maintaining an export control regime that is sensitive to our security needs," he said.

The subcommittee will hear from William A. Reinsch, under secretary for export administration in the U.S. Department of Commerce.
