Sen. Phil Gramm, chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, has announced that a bipartisan panel of members of the Senate and House will address the full committee June 9 on financial privacy.
"Several of our colleagues have put a lot of thought and work into proposals to protect people's privacy," Gramm said. "I look forward to hearing their ideas as the Banking Committee prepares to consider the balance between privacy and the modernization of financial services."
The hearing is the first in a series that Gramm has announced as part of a process to develop consensus for legislation regarding financial privacy. Details of other hearings will be announced later.
