GRAMM ANNOUNCES COMMITTEE HEARING
ON SUMMERS' NOMINATION TO HEAD TREASURY

Sen. Phil Gramm, chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, has announced that the full committee will hold a hearing at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, on the nomination of Lawrence Summers to be Secretary of the Treasury.

"The Treasury Department deals with so many issues and policies that fall under the Banking Committee's jurisdiction that it's important to give committee members and Larry Summers an opportunity for an on-the-record discussion," Gramm said. "I look forward to hearing his comments on trade, currency and, especially, economic policy."
