Washington, D.C. Today, led by Chairman Tim Scott (R-S.C.), the Senate Banking Committee advanced several of President Trump’s nominees for key positions across the administration.

The following nominees now head to the Senate floor:

  • Ben DeMarzo, to be Assistant Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Development
  • Craig Trainor, to be Assistant Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Development
  • John Jovanovic, to be Chairman, Export-Import Bank
  • Francis Brooke, to be Assistant Secretary, Department of the Treasury
  • David Peters, to be Assistant Secretary, Department of Commerce

Chairman Scott’s remarks as submitted for the record:

As we gather here today, we do so with a clear sense of purpose: to advance a slate of nominees who will help implement President Trump’s pro-growth, pro-America agenda at a critical moment for our economy and national competitiveness.

The individuals before us are accomplished professionals who bring deep experience and a clear commitment to public service.

Ben DeMarzo and Craig Trainor have been called to serve at the Department of Housing and Urban Development – an agency central to ensuring access to affordable housing and opportunity.

Mr. DeMarzo’s role will be to improve the agency’s accountability and deliver for families across the country by strengthening local, state, and federal partnerships.

Mr. Trainor will lead our nation’s fair housing efforts – upholding the foundational American promise that everyone, no matter their ZIP code, has a fair shot at the American Dream.

John Jovanovic is nominated to serve as Chairman of the Export-Import Bank – a crucial institution at a time when American manufacturers and exporters face fierce competition from China.

He will help ensure our businesses can compete and win on a level playing field.

Francis Brooke is nominated to serve at the Treasury Department, where he will represent U.S. financial interests abroad and strengthen America’s role in the global economy.

And finally, David Peters is nominated to serve at the Department of Commerce, where his leadership will help enforce our export control laws, defend American innovation, and hold bad actors accountable.

These five nominees represent the next generation of leadership needed to drive economic resurgence, restore accountability, and deliver results for the American people.

Their confirmation is not just about filling roles – it’s about giving President Trump and his cabinet secretaries the team they need.

Let’s advance these nominees and continue building a future where every American can thrive. Thank you.
