“As we celebrate Black History Month, we must focus on expanding and improving our free-market system to ensure all Americans have both the access and opportunity to share in our country’s economic success – including those who grew up in communities like I did. Today’s roundtable was an important discussion on the unique challenges facing Black Americans looking to start and grow a business, as well as those looking to invest in their communities. I’ll continue pushing solutions to improve access to our capital markets system, with the goal of opening doors to opportunity for businesses and entrepreneurs across our country,” said Ranking Member Scott.

The roundtable also follows Ranking Member Scott’s recent release of his legislative framework, the Empowering Main Street in America Act, which will boost avenues for capital formation and increase access to U.S. capital markets – helping to create more high-paying jobs and investment opportunities in minority communities across the country.

Roundtable Participants:

  • Marcus Shaw, CEO & President, AltFinance
  • Herbert Drayton III, Managing Partner, HI Mark Capital
  • McKeever “Mac” Conwell, Managing Partner, RareBreed Ventures
  • Shalanda Armstrong, Managing Partner, 100KM Ventures
