Senator Warren’s Statement on President Trump Pardoning Binance Founder Changpeng Zhao

Washington, D.C. – Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, issued the following statement in response to President Donald Trump’s pardoning Binance founder Changpeng Zhao for violating U.S. anti-money laundering laws:

“First, Changpeng Zhao pleaded guilty to a criminal money laundering charge. Then he boosted one of Donald Trump’s crypto ventures and lobbied for a pardon. Today, Donald Trump did his part and pardoned him. If Congress does not stop this kind of corruption in pending market structure legislation, it owns this lawlessness.”
